Jesus came willingly to die for us in the end so that salvation can come to the world.
This is a sacrifice of a huge proportion. To have the holy Son of God, of impeccable purity, to take on every single putrefying sins of mankind.
We will probably never be able to imagine the fullness of the feeling that Christ have to go through. But we do know one thing, which we can experience too: the love of God.
For God so loved the world that He Gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. - John 3:16, New King James Version
Love is a decision first, then emotional
Decision and emotions are mutually inclusive, but decision takes precedence, because it leads the emotions. You choose where to put your affections, emotions and passion into. Many times it’s so easy to “love” a girl that you are having a crush on (”love”, and not love, is because I believe it’s not real love but a fascination, a deep admiration and desire for the girl. Depending on the severity, it can range from an innocent desire to downright creepy obsession).
Here’s something to think about as a guy: “If you can ‘love’ girls with such passion, why not God?”
Hope that will leave an impression. Repentance comes easy when you are (genuinely) willing to deal with certain lifestyle, habits, sins and most importantly, your mindset.
Love is spending time with God
And spending time with God nurtures your love. Pray, worship, reading the Bible to learn more about God and being more passionate in doing His will and knowing the precious revelations He has for you life, all this takes time to be in the presence of God.
Prayer takes a special precedence, I believe. It’s the time that you set aside in a private place for communion with God.
The love that keeps you from sinning
Among other things, such as the grace of God, the anointing of God which breaks bondages, the love for God keeps you from sinning against God. Admittedly, we still dwell with our fallen mortal body. But as born again Christians, we have the blood of Christ and the Holy Spirit on our side. His power enables us to do things which we cannot do in our fallen state.
Love transcends
Love for God allows you to transcend duty to delight. From law to grace, reluctance to freewill. This transcendence is a form of character molding. Granted, when God puts us through tests, most of the time we will kick and scream and groan in pain to reveal the problems in us and change us.
Love is giving
Love is a gift from God to you, and in turn you to God and to others, because love is giving. We have to constantly choose to give. Like rivers of living water flowing from our lives, we have to constantly open our floodgates, to show our love.
What is a most graphical contrast? The river Niles and the Dead Sea. The former is life giving and birthed forth a nation and civilization that spanned through history. The latter? Just a nice tourist attraction, maybe for you to float around. Jokes aside, the Dead Sea is ridden with salt crystal mounts. It’s salt content is so high not even a fish can live in it.
To give in love is to bless sincerely and indeed many lives will be impacted when we are willing to love in a growing, loveless world. To show who and what God is really like.
And with this I like to end with my favorite verses from two books of the Bible, Romans and 1 Corinthian, that describes love, from God and from us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine or nakedness, or peril, or sword? - Romans 8:35, New King James Version
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, no things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39, New King James Version
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.- 1 Corinthians 13:3-8, New King James Version

jeremiah, wow a very very well written post you have there. i was touched and captivated by the passage that you have written, because i truely agree that out of GOD’s love comes delight. I could still remember that days when i was a helper back there in cell group. It was a duty, but because i love GOD and i love His house, i love to serve my members.:)
