I’ve been asking quite a number of my friends a few questions that they may have never faced before.
Back then before Winning Everyone (WE) was started, it was almost tough to share the questions and answers that I’ve received to more people, especially when the one giving the question have to take time to present (or re-present) the same question over again and making it specific and clear for the ones who were going to answer them.
Now, this would be a great form of media to ask the questions and get more variations and views on which we can share answers that go beyond our knowledge and intelligence, that goes deeper down where our words are formed through the heart.
I’d like to hear more personal, more deeper answers from you here on WE!
Here’s one for today (as stated in the topic title): “Name a defining moment in your life and how much did you have in your pocket at that time?”
Let’s answer by writing in the comments! All comments are moderated, so if you would like to share but make it private, do start the message with the following: *keep private* (including the asterisk).
This question is pretty specific and has been narrowed down to letting it be 1 defining moment (or maximum 3 if there’s more memorable ones to share), and state how much you recall having in your pockets, meaning your personal net worth at that point of time, and give a couple of reasons to why it has stayed in your heart till today. Do mention how you have grown since that day, and how you have been inspired in that day and have the passion to share it when given the chance.
That’s about it! We can start writing now. :)
Let’s share our life with one another, and grow together!
We are into building people up and asking powerful questions that goes deep into people’s hearts! Subscribe to WE and be a great group of people today!

My defining moment was to leave my home town to start my own life journey in the United State of America with $20 in my pocket. When I arrived, a friend let me stay with him for few months to help me out. I’ve struggled and I’ve had thoughts of quitting and going back to my home town but my mother gave me inspiration and faith to keep going and I’m glad that after whirl wind, life has taught me great lessons for success that I share at http://www.successsoul.com/blog/
Thanks for the opportunity to share my story. I’m stumbling this great post.

I did not have a defining moment when I decided to focus more of my energies on my self help site. It was a gradual shift, that was waiting to happen. After having been through corporate life and becoming a parent, it just seems so natural to ask myself where my life is heading. I did not want to lead a life less than ordinary (at least on my terms). As a lifelong learner myself, I intend to do my part by imparting empowering messages to heal and inspire others.

Hey guys! Thanks for the comments here! I was intending to get other’s feedbacks in first before I start writing out mine, so all of us have a stake in this conversation and participate as equals here. :)
@Shilpan: When was that when you arrived at US and what was the thing that made you go for the change? I’m keen to find out more!
@Evelyn: I’m sure you’ll be an awesome mom to your wonderful children! The stories you share on your site are fitting to share with them too. Especially the ones with the 17 types of smiles. I’m sure it will be a great conversational piece for years to come.

Here’s my add to this entry that I’ve shared with a friend on Live Messenger earlier:
It was on a Sunday, on a week when my birthday was on in the late February 2007, and it was also a church day for me right at Singapore Expo which was at the other end of the island.
I had ran out of cash in my wallet and left with S$8 in my bank account back then, and had almost no way of going for the service, where a prominent pastor from Sweden was having a 3 day conference in.
During those days, I was severely lacking in confidence to speak or talk to anyone as easily and openly as today, and used to have doubts. What made matter worse was that I was already running late for the day, and I couldn’t bear to step out of my house as there was like none of my friends who are still at the western side of Singapore that I could look for in the last minute to hitch a ride to the east where the event was held.
It was already 30 minutes since the start of the service, and I had just arrived at the nearest public train system and I sat at one corner not knowing what to do. I felt quite dumb for even stepping out of my house in the first place with nothing on hand.
Then an idea struck. Which was to go have a talk with the train station’s personnel.
I did that, only after procrastinating and thinking if that was even a good idea at all for a whole 5 minutes.
To my surprise, I was given a free pass without needing to have any long discussion or anything. And I made it to church after 1 hr and 45 minutes. Interestingly, I was allowed entrance and in the midst of 8,000 people in the hall, the pastor started talking about the topic on being prosperous and trusting God. It was the start of a juicy message when I came in. :)
That was a memorable moment that defined me today in 3 ways;
1. Act of random kindness / generosity to make one’s day
With the help of a kind assistance from the train station by helping me out without the need to go through any lengthy form of discussions or persuasions, it made my day by getting me to the destination and learning something great from an apostle on that weekend that happened to be on my birthday week.
2. Increased in confidence with faith to trust God
That thought just came out of nowhere after tons of self-questioning since at home. I was already delaying myself and thought of the 100 other reasons to give my friends that I won’t be joining them that day. It was only when I decided to agree and go forward, that the next simple but powerful thought when acted upon came.
And that idea was quite straightforward too! “Go up and ask the operator in that control room.” That was it.
I’ve redefined the word “faith” in an easier way to understand and which made sense in the 2nd part of The Excellence Mile. Look up there to find out more about that word. :)
The widely known universal principal of the “ask and you shall receive” quote worked in this scenario, and gave me a great story to tell about from that moment.
3. Be a people’s solution!
Of course one reason why that event sticked is because that was one of the few ways that inspired me to generously help others just by being there, and providing timely solutions to people that are around you.
Let’s be someone else’s miracle and be a people’s solution today! :D

Alright! Now your turn to share more stories and how that had defined you, and how much you had with you at that time.
That would be awesome. Checking back later guys!

My defining moment was my car wreck. I drank too much flipped my car 1.5 times and landed upside down. Wow, it’s been 7 years since that fateful day. When I unlocked my seat belt I fell on to the roof of my car. Of course I got a DUI and I’m glad. I deserved it. I realized that I needed goals in my life. Goals that meant more than just getting drunk to feel good. I don’t know how much money I had, maybe $40 bucks.

Great question!
My defining moment came early in my life. I was a sophomore in high school many years back.
On my freshman year, I was bummed that I didn’t make the varsity tennis team. Although I made the junior varsity team, that wasn’t enough for me. I told everyone that the following season, which was my sophomore year, that I will only not make the varsity team, but I will be the best player in the team as well.
I worked hard, very hard. Sophomore season came and I got my wish. I dominated, became the number one player in the school and I was ranked 3rd in the city. From that moment on, I knew that I could pretty much accomplish anything if I really want to.
This was the time when my belief in my capabilities became boundless.
Money in my pocket? Zero…I was 15 years old.

Wow, my defining moment.. hmm, lets see..
My biggest defining moment yet is right now, as in my life in Germany. Before i come to Germany, i have no idea (oh well, lets say, not enough to start a conversation) German and of course, i was really afraid that i spend too much money. Besides, i am not on any scholarship or whatsoever. All i have with me is only some allowance from my parents and of course, GOD. Life in Germany is really about stepping out of the comfort zone, about leaving the people you love the most, leaving what you like to do.
GOD challenged me one evening to really try and “earn money” while studying. I mean, i really do not feel very happy spending my dad’s money just because i am studying over here in Germany. That was where my focus was on GOD’s provision, which of course in this case is the scholarship. My results changed from just normal B’s and C’s to A’s. If i maintain my grades, I will be getting my scholarship this coming October. :)

@Karl: Woah. That was quite a nasty experience. True too, that we now know that we need goals in our lives, and treasure every single minute and second of it to not be overly obsessed with drinking and more booze. Big changes 7 years later. I can see. :D
@Chris: Hey! Thanks for coming over here. :) Your story reminds me of one I had too when I was 14. My friend and I looked over the soccer field with the current school team playing. We told each other that we would represent our school in a year or two. I took that seriously and in 1 year I got into the team, and shortly after, got a handful more of friends who we played together and represented our school colors. Our capabilities are definitely boundless when we put our mind and heart to it.
@Mavarick: Yosh! Get your A’s into A’stars! Cos’ you are an awesome pal. And deserve to be the top percentile in your university!
Thanks for all the comments! :)
