I had recently got my Firefox browser to startup automatically when my computer enters into Windows XP upon booting up. The first page that it points to would be my current favorite (and a must-have online tool) website called Remember the Milk!

Remember the Milk (RTM) is a powerful to-do list that helps in getting me more productive and organized with it’s easy to use functions and simple yet effective navigation to help me get my tasks managed on the website.

I only started using RTM 2 weeks ago and fell in love with it at the first time I entered into my account! It’s clean, uncluttered, and because I have zero tasks on hand at that time, the following words “You have no incomplete tasks in this list. Woohoo!” appeared on the bottom of the tasks pane. That quote serves to be one of the best things that can bring a smile to the face.

Apart from that quirky way to cheer when no tasks are left for the day, it’s this other feature that got me to love Remember the Milk even more.

The almighty “delete” key!

Apart from creating new tasks and fill up the entire screen with to-do list items, you can delete all of them with one press of “delete” right on your own keyboard!

remember the milk - incomplete task
Uh-oh. Incomplete tasks for today.

remember the milk - delete task
Done! No more tasks. Woohoo!

Here’s some examples on the right.

The first one shows how our tasks list will look like when things are added into it. Pretty neat!

There’s one item not yet done, which is to write a Happiness Friday entry!

Ok, so let’s say that I’m done writing the entry (this post), and after publishing it, I head back to my Remember the Milk tasks section, click on the item to highlight it, and hit the “delete” button.

Boom! The item’s gone from the list and I’m done with the tasks for today! Hooray!

And if I had deleted the item accidentally, I can make an “undo” to rescue the item from being deleted forever. It’s a fail proof feature seen in Web 2.0 applications that makes working online very effective and useful.

Nifty, neat, and nice!

More things we can do with Remember the Milk

There are many more things we can do with this cool web application and definitely more updates that will come as the developers continue working on making the good things about Remember the Milk greater! The following is a screen-capture taken from the site’s tour page.

  • Create lists, tag items, and write notes for individual tasks in the lists
  • Use the map to see where your tasks are located in the real world
  • Share, send and publish tasks and lists with your contacts
  • Add tasks wherever you are
  • Access your tasks on your web-enabled mobile device
  • Prioritize and plan your time with ease
  • Smart searching
  • Helpful ‘undo’ feature means you never need to worry about making a mistake

Start striking things off our to-do lists

It is interesting to dedicate a post to a web application on Winning Everyone, but with something this good, it is hard not to even give Remember the Milk a deserved mention.

When I used to work in an administrative environment, one of the main things I had kept a habit of doing would be to take down notes and replenish the paper by using recycled ones from rejected printed paper or on those result slips that fax machines print out for every other fax sent.

Now with such a great online productivity tool made available online for us (it’s free!), why not try it out and save a whole lot of paper today!

I’ve done cleaning up my room and writing this post.

Time to strike those 2 things off my to-do list.

“You have no incomplete tasks in this list. Woohoo!” says my Remember the Milk web application. Yay!

Do check out Remember the Milk’s blog for updates, and sign up for a free basic account to start getting your to-do lists done up nice and quickly!

And if you want to go one step further and support their development project for Remember the Milk, do sign up with them for a pro account! It’s $25 USD, similar to buying paper for notes making for a year.

Here’s a thing you should do after reading this. Subscribe to Winning Everyone for the latest tips now!
