Editor’s note: Updated again in the evening! Another interesting coincidental stuff happened right after this entry was published, and would be sharing it. Includes a photo in it too! - Daniel
I’ve had 2 rather interesting encounters with my friends on the same day and surprised them by being coincidental in the things that I say and the time that I happened to pop by!
Oh, I couldn’t find any image that fits the theme of this post. So, I used a Monokuro Boo image from Flickr as this entry’s featured image. That is one cute character that comes in two total opposite colors: black and white.
It’s way fun to have such encounters, that’s why this shall be the topic for this week’s Happiness Friday!
It was past 4pm in the afternoon on a Monday. I just finished lunch and had gotten myself a haircut from a saloon in the market area in my neighborhood.
As I was walking home, under a block of flats, I saw one of my friends whom we knew since kindergarten years (that made us 5 years old when we got to know each other!) walking towards me from a distance. I wanted to pull a fast prank on him before he sees me.
I hid behind a pillar waiting for him to come by.
3… 2..1.
Boo!
Didn’t scare him as much as I had expected! Dang.
We were supposed to meet on a Saturday morning for breakfast with a group of friends, but he had a hangover and wasn’t able to get up in time for the outing.
Both of us chatted about the meeting that he had missed, and after which I changed the topic and asked him if he saw any bits of hair was left on my face or neck as I wanted to make sure that I had got rid of the loose remains that might have been left behind after the haircut.
Then I asked him where was he heading to, and he was pleasantly surprised that I had asked that immediately after talking on the topic of haircut.
He was on his way to get his hair done too!
It was a pleasant meeting and a good 5 minute chatter to catch up with an old friend of mine.
This time, I was already back at home and logged on to my Live Messenger.
I checked through the list and randomly picked one name to start a conversation with.
My “hello” message surprised her for a moment as she mentioned that she needed a name to use for an assignment, and after typing my name, my chat screen appeared right at her!
I can imagine the expression she might be carrying on her side as one who was shocked for a second as though by typing my name even on a project document can bring out a relevant search result on me! Not even Google can get any closer than this!
Here is where the juice of this entry starts.
Candid
Be authentic. Be real. Be true to yourself.
Express yourself beautifully not by thinking long before you say something. But speak up more, even if you have nothing to say, just say that you can’t think of anything to say, in as interesting a way as possible.
Being candid is about having no reservations, or no hidden agenda, no disguised messages, and here’s the key element: being pure.
It is fun to be pure! It’s a whole new way of freedom by being able to laugh, cry, cheer, or do funny antics if you have a more extroverted personality trait that can be acquired or learned over time.
Having the ability to be candid helps turn coincidental meetings into one that draws you closer to your friend in the only few minutes that you have together before heading off to a different destination.
Candidness #1: Helps change awkward situations
Being candid also helps in making awkward situations and change it into something light hearted in as quick as a clap of your hands.
An example would be while sleeping on a public train transport and you doze off and knocked your head to the passenger’s shoulder seated beside you. This actually happened to me, and after I apologized after waking myself up immediately, we started talking.

Candidness #2: Allows you to enjoy time with friends even while being pranked
That’s me with my friends in that photo. And the guy who I am pointing at in the photo is my friend who was pranked by yours truly.
The good part is that we all enjoyed ourselves especially when the pranked pulled off successfully.
I did drop obvious hints about something drawn onto his forehead even without him noticing during the game we played.
Having friends who have the ability to be candid is great! Adds to the cheerfulness of the fellowship.

Candidness #3: Draws friends closer
That image was taken with the cameraman (he’s in this photo too!) who set up a timer to take consecutive shots of us doing wild actions and poses!
It was definitely something candid, and left a wonderful memory on how we had that beautiful shot taken spontaneously!
The photo taking session though was something we did not plan of in the first place, helped drew each other closer and built a stronger friendship together.
Here’s a music video clip that plays a very beautiful piece that is titled “Draw Me Closer” with footages from the movie The Prince of Egypt.
The ability to be candid and pure even on situations that are considered coincidental is definitely a powerful way to link friends closer to each other, making connections that are stronger and more fun to be with together!
“Blessed are they who have the gift of making friends, for it is one of God’s best gifts. It involves many things, but above all, the power of going out of one’s self and appreciating whatever is noble and loving in another.” - Thomas Hughes
Have a wonderful candid week ahead! Do spend time with your friends even for an arranged outing, or maybe during a coincidental meet up.

Additional stuff added in the evening here!
The cool part about writing about coincidental incidents and being candid does work some wonders!
After publishing this post, I rushed down to our Winning Everyone’s team outing with a couple of our readers from Singapore. We realized one very interesting thing.
All of us were wearing black!
Not all of us are strong fans of black colored T-shirts.
Here’s introducing to you the people in the photo, which was also a candid moment for us, from left to right; Jephthah, Wen Ke, Daniel (me!), and Jia Siang!
Both Wen Ke and Jia Siang are fans and avid readers of our blog, while Jephthah and I are the founding people and the administrators of Winning Everyone.
The cool part was to see positive coincidental things happening immediately after publishing an article. It sure gave us another topic to talk about for the day!
Hope you had a great candid Friday! Have a powerful weekend ahead.
We love to be candid and do like to have your support here! Subscribe to Winning Everyone and be a pure and fun person today!
