Watched Iron Man (2008) yet? I managed to catch that power-packed superhero adventure movie on it’s preview night courtesy of one of my friends who treated me to the film.
So, Jephthah may have beaten me to a post about the hit movie Iron Man this weekend, here’s to bringing you a different take on the show, with a list of ways on how to live out the incredible life of Tony Stark 2.0!
Pre Mark I to Tony Stark 2.0
This is definitely a play on the 2.0 stuffs you see around the world right now, started from Web 2.0, to Business 2.0 (now defunct), and even right up to Abundance 2.0.
However, Tony Stark 2.0 is a good term to describe his new life and approaches taken right after the fun-vee incident that got him to be taken captive as a sole survivor in the sudden attack on his convoy while on his way back from a successful sale of the Jericho missiles.
Tony, the lead character of the movie, that would become known as Iron Man, was a wealthy, over-confident, bad-ass, genius of all geniuses, billionaire industrialist that we love to hate and like at the same time.
He had almost zero purpose to live for in his life, apart from making sure his super weapons company continues prospering, which he doesn’t seem interested at all as portrayed in the movie.
Then, the fun-vee incident.
Tony Stark was captured right after a successful sale of the Jericho missiles created by him for his partnership company - Stark Industries.

He was living out the great self-indulgence lifestyle till that point of time when disaster struck.
It was in the cave-prison where he met another intellectual engineer professor, Dr. Yinsen, who was to be his savior by building and installing an electromagnet device that prevented stray shrapnels from entering into his heart, and thus, extending his life longer as long as power supply for the device was available.
Tony learned of the reason of why he was kept alive when the terrorist group showed him around the camp that was filled with a huge arsenal of weaponry that were, ironically, belonged to Stark Industries. The Ten Rings terrorist group wanted him to build a Jericho missile for them in return of letting him live.
Both captives knew that the words of the group’s leader could not be trusted, and bought a week of time to getting them out of the place.
That was when Tony Stark was posed a tough question on what did he want in life.
“This week is a very important week for you”. Said Dr. Yinsen.
12 ways to live out the incredible life!
The introduction’s finally over and here’s the juice of this entry. The 12 things that defines Tony Stark 2.0!

1. Confidence
Tony had this all throughout the show! However I am referring to confidence under pressure for this point. As seen in the cave scene, he knew he was going to get both Yinsen and him out of there right under the watchful eyes of the Ten Rings terrorist group, and he was certain of getting it done.
2. Sticking to the plan
“Stick to the plan!” yelled Tony when Yinsen rushed out to buy a few more minutes of time for Mark I to be fully powered. Tony knew all along that his creation that he had spent a week to work on will succeed as long as they stick to the plan.
3. Knew his mistake
After the escape and while being escorted back on the plane with his best friend, Lt. Colonel James Rhodes (or “Rhodey”), Tony had an expression of knowing that he should not have detoured in his fun-vee and sticked with the main group instead.
4. Decisiveness
“Get me a cheeseburger!” was Tony’s first remark when he landed back on his home land. He knew what he wanted and prioritized immediately on touchdown. Cheeseburger first, then the urgent press-conference.
5. Repentance
During the press conference held right after having his favorite cheeseburger upon arrival back home, he revealed that he was going to stop all weapons production immediately after the meeting.
Repentance comes with action, and it was from that point on when he started to focus on disarming all places that holds weapons made by Stark Industries, starting by refining his one-man army which he call “Mark II”.
6. Charm
Tony doesn’t know that it was his personal assistant’s, Pepper Potts, birthday. But he sure did know how to talk his way out and cover his previous flaw of not taking notice of important days of people closest to him.
7. Focus
During his sabbatical from Stark Industries, he made use of his resources, time, and creativity to build up Mark II, which was eventually going to be the Iron Man character we all have come to love!
8. Aesthetics
He likes things that are nice. No doubts about that. Even the Jericho cluster missile produced nice looking effects from launch to fragments to explosions. The only exception was Mark I when he built it in a rush while hiding facts that he was building a machine to get both Yinsen and him out from the hands of the terrorist group.
9. Taking notice
During a party that was meant for Tony and his partnership company (which he wasn’t invited), he saw Pepper Potts in a whole new way. He finally began to see there’s more to life than nothing, and started to take notice of the finer details that he so missed out before the life-and-death incident.
10. Determination
“Sometimes we got to run before we can walk.” Tony told his AI (artificial intelligence) assistant, Jarvis, on his test run of Mark II and its flying capabilities.
11. Straight talking
One thing we love about Tony Starks and Iron Man is his straight talk and the humor that comes within that one-liner he gives throughout the movie. During the test flight of Mark II, he did not even have a hint of worrying about the things that could have happened. He pushed his limits and confirmed that his machine worked!
“Yes I can fly.”
12. Humility
At the end of the movie after defeating the bad guy, he was found in another press conference. This time, he was briefed to follow a script that was prepared by one of the writers that Rhodey had asked for.
But after reading through a couple of sentences in that script, he decided that he was not the type of person who would lie his way through, and humbled himself and with integrity, he said this magical four words that brought the room to joy:-
“I am Iron Man.”

That’s it! The list is completed above!
We can’t help but to like Iron Man and this movie which definitely top the must-watch movie of 2008!
The list above does help in getting us to live an incredible life. It’s an anti-hack, as the one common trait that is found throughout the 12 points is that all those mentioned are human solutions.
Tony Stark changed after the meeting with Dr. Yinsen. He got his purpose in life from that point of time, and started to align everything about him into achieving the goal of disarming all weapons bearing the Stark Industries logo.
Let’s bring this to a close by asking all those who have yet to watch this movie to go buy a ticket and watch it in the cinemas while it’s still showing this month!
Iron Man is a fantastic movie to catch on any given day. We’ve watched the show already. It’s your turn.

@Hunter: Haha. I had watched the cartoon version of Iron Man when I was little, and loved the characters! It was amazing to see the cool live-action movie on the big screens. I had wanted to write an entry with an interesting take on the show, and had laid out the 12 points list that happened in chronological order of the movie itself.
Iron Man was surely a fun movie to watch, and I’m glad that all of you liked this post too. Great seeing you here!
