Who Guards The Guardians?

Editor’s note: Ever met with guardian angels who are quick to encourage, motivate, and build others up? Do they ever get discouraged in their own lives and who are going to guard them like how they had done for you? Here’s a great article written by our friend Ganapathy right here on WE!

Throughout our lives we have met and worked with several people. During these experiences we have often faced much pleasant and in some cases the really nasty ones where certain kinds of people seem to be just there to take pleasure in scrutinizing and mocking at your politeness or show of goodwill.

There may have been times where you would have asked yourself “who does that person think he is?” or “do they take me for a fool, me and my big mouth; I’m not going to bother next time”. It’s not surprising that you would have wondered at least once on why certain human beings behave this way?

You could have even concluded that “different people talk, think and do things differently” It is important that you don’t let these people get you down as most of the time these people are just being ignorant or too full of themselves to respect your intentions. They may not reveal their true feelings easily but did you know apart from the nasty people that were mentioned here, that there are people of the complete polar opposite in terms of character actually exist? You may not have come across them due to their low profile but they do exist.

Let’s call them the “guardians“.

Even as the guardians go around and out of their comfort zones to help others just like you have been doing, they too receive remarks such as “stupid, dumb, crazy or even idiot” from members of society (yea its surprising what people say isn’t it?) Why do guardians continue to do this? Its logically unsound in terms of efficiency so then what drives them to do this? Is there a catch somewhere? Well we are shocked to come across the answer.

You see in this day and age where people are mostly concerned about profit, money and how to take advantage of others, there are still people like the guardians who carry out these random selfless acts as it gives them a strong sense of satisfaction happiness to make a difference in someone else life. It may be a small sacrifice of time, simple teamwork to finish a task or even staying back to listen to a stranger’s problems as long as it helps. The efforts they made is worthwhile for them.

Now don’t get me wrong; they aren’t perfect (they sure try to do everything themselves to prevent from being a burden to others) in fact, they are far from it. I have observed some of them to be really picky about their friends, completely paranoid about being a burden to others or really reluctant in asking for help when they really need it.

The point isn’t in cross examining these people as they had set themselves up to be or in how well they work behind the stages of limelight to avoid society’s attention, but rather the simple points they have taught us all. I firmly believe that the smaller things in life have been forgotten by most people; simple things like hearing a person out or helping out someone (had we stop doing that because we were afraid of being thought as doing that for our own personal benefit?).

I believe the world will be a much better place if people just start helping the person next to them.

Small acts of kindness and expressions have a habit of making a huge impact on a person’s life. The world still isn’t as bad as you think it is, although these “guardian types” are often being taken advantage of, you might be surprised where you can actually find people like them.

I know there are times when we all despair and lose hope in the world but don’t give up! There are good people all around us! It is just… slightly harder to find them, as they might be weary of being taken advantage of you see. If you are in a lot of trouble talk it out with someone… anyone. They might have a way out or they maybe able to give you ideas.

These guardians won’t give up on you; so why should you? Help each other, and you can find yourself ending up helping your own - and not the other way around.

Who guards the guardians? That’s easy! Only other guardians and those who know them well can do that. Try working in a team, life can seem very much different than it usually is…
